SECRETARY' S NOTES
First must come thanks to the two Eric`s, Clarke and Weatherill for the many hours they have spent looking after their respective Areas. They
have been Co-ordinators for many years now and at last feel like a well earned rest. On behalf of the Club may I wish you both good luck and
good fortune in your future ventures.
The Annual Meeting at Didcot was a very good day out. We had some god Slide Shows and A.V. shows; a very good display of Colour Prints; an insrtuctive display of Electronic Triggering units; an amusing talk on Special print effects and some super food by Mr. & Mrs. Telling. All in all it wasa very pleasant event.
Thanks to everyone who helped make the day so enjoyable. There were a lot of you who helped out in many ways to whom we are very grateful.
Next year we were going to Weatherby, but that idea has been squashed as the Hall rent had been increased and access limited. There are also very few members in that area to help out. Perhaps it is just as well as next year is our coming of age - the C.R.C. is 21 years old. Hopefully we will again be able to organise something special for Didcot.
Does anyone know who is a B&W fan need HP5 Plus. Kevin Craske (TFM) has some surplus very fresh cassettes at £2.82 for 36exp. There are no boxes or instruction leaflets as it is professional film packed in boxes of 50 cassettes. Likewise any member wishing for a source of Fuji Velvia should contact First Call darkroom Supplies of Taunton. They have 30m tins at £55.89. My own reaction to that news was that it is a high price for a film marginally better than Konica in dull weather. Still someone might fancy paying twice as much (almost) for the pleasure of being different.
What a rotten season it is --- or is it? We have just had a fortnights holiday in the Yorkshire dales and Moors. There were showers and even
one time hailstones, but in between glorious sunshine with big white clouds and very blue sky. It was ideal for photography. The only day
which wasn`t sunny all day was overcast and visibility was poor. So come on folks - get the camera out and have a go when the chances come along.
A.R. Photochemicals have now got a liquid form of EDTA NAFE and a liquid form of Ammonium thiosulphate. Both are easier to use and cost
less. The snag is that postage costs are high. On 500ml of Ammonium thiosulphate costing £2.00 the postage cost is around £2.50 so it is hardly worth posting. Best solution is to come to Didcot and buy direct from A.R.P. or collect from A.R. if you live near Birmingham.
