SECRETARY' S NOTES

On 29th. January, Konica raised the prices of all it`s film. due to the fall in value of the pound. If the pound does not remain stable the prices may have to rise again! To keep our prices down for as long as possible I got in a good stock of all types. This has now got low and re-ordering at the new prices has been necessary. If yuo order film in the future could you please send the new amounts, plus postage and a sticky lable containing your name and address.

New prices are:- 36exp. Cassette Konica chrome 100 iso -- £3.10 10m. Bulk tin Konica chrome 100 iso -- £12.75 30m. Bulk tin Konica chrome 100 iso -- £31.50 Postage remains as before.

As you can see the price rises are not as bad as they could be and we still get our film at greatly reduced rates. In the current copy of A.P. Fuji Velvia is advertised at œ64 for a 30m tin.

There is a new Chemical Price List in this issue which you will hopefully put in your Handbook to replace the old one. Please make sure that you enclose enough to cover the postage. Add the weights of your chemicals and add enough to cover the bottles, packing and box or padded envelope. Where small quantities of liquid i.e. 100ml Propionic acid, are required, I have to charge 30p for a plastic bottle.

Please make sure that cheques are made out to the Colour Reversal Club not to myself.

Ron Knowles wrote to me recently to say that he has been quite ill of late and would not be able to carry on as Co-ordinator of Area 11. We are very sorry to the bad news Ron, and hope you soon get back to your usual perky self. Thank you for the great job you have done since taking over from Eric Weatherill. Ron`s friend, Roy Johnson will steer Yorkshire ship now for a while.

Several letters have come in with film orders confirming that it is easy to get good results using the standard C.R.C. Formul;a. This is very pleasing after all the hoo-ha over failures with various coloured shadows. It is very unlikely that the CD-3 is to blame. A more likely source is the amount of Potassium Hydroxide and it`s state of activity. It goes off quickly and is used in large quantities. It also affects the pH to a high extent. A pH meter is needed to control it`s activity and without one there could be a vast difference in the quantity needed and that in solution.

Ron.
