SECRETARY' S NOTES

As I look out of the window the gardens are becoming bright with colour. The spring flowers are out in abundance and it is pouring with rain. That about sums up the conditions of the last three months. Never mind it gets better on the whole each week. This has been reflected in the amount of film I have sent out to members.

While on the subject of film and chemical sales I do appreciate a decent label to put on you package. It is easier to turn an order round qiickly with a label, therefore you receive you items back sooner. Able labels are not really suitable, they look rather silly on a big package. Could you also make sure the cheque is made out to the Colour Reversal Club. Ones made out to me cause an great deal of bother as the Treasurer!; bank will not accept them. These remarks relate to both film and chemicals.

Please note I do not have chemical price lists. These are printed regularly in the Newsletter and amendments made in my notes. We do not have a photo-copier and so do not have spares.

Postage on chemicals can be found from a Parcel Force price list stocked at each Post Office. Add on 3Op for any bottles, plus an extra 200g for the packaging material. If it will go Into a padded envelope then add 30p for the envelope. The chemicals are very cheap compared with trade suppliers, so please send me enough to cover chemicals and postage.

It Is sad to have to tell you that Eric Clark passed away in the New Year. He had been an area Co-ordinator for many years. Eric suffered from his heart and had been awaiting another operation. He will be missed.

I have just received a copy of Firstcall’s latest catalogue. It is full of good things for the Darkroom. Bought 100 metal cassettes from it. They are very good as they can be cleaned easily and the caps come off easily In the changing bag. The addition of a coloured label and a cassette container make them very acceptable.

There was concern over possible alterations to the 35mm film format from some members recently. This was due to rumours which have now been made public. Kodak, Fuji, Nikon, Canon and Minolta have formed a group to develop: a film which will record exposure details down one side of the film, (possibly where the perforations are). New processing machines will read the details and automatically print a perfect picture. That is the theory ! Can you imagine the extra cost to pay for these developments. It is aimed not at slide users, but at the print world. Cant think it will affect our way of life much.

Ron.
