SECRETARY' S NOTES
After a very poor Spring we have had a superb Summer. My photography slowed down in the poor weather but I have made up for it since, some of the results being very satisfying.
When I returned from a recent holiday I was very sorry to hear that Ron Knowles and Bert Barraclough had passed on. Both had done a great deal for the club. Bert lived in Texas and got us the original information on the E6 formula. It was on this that the present club formulae were based. Ron had written articles for the newsletter for a long time, and his work will be sadly missed.
Bill our Editor will be in need of articles for the Newsletter in future. It is a coinicidence that our friends in Ireland have also written to me on the contents of the Newsletter. One of the members has suggested that it is far too technical on weighers & mixers` problems. This is true as only a very small minority of our members trouble to follow this line of processing nowadays. True they are the perfectionists who want nothing more than the best from their slides. It is also true that those of us whom process in this way would not readily use any other.
Here is a few suggestions of what some members would like:- Technical features on the use of Konica film. Details on Home Kit Processing. Where and when to use Konica film, filtration etc., use in different lighting conditions. Sale and wanted section. Cameras, Lenses, slide copiers, darkroom equipment, Projectors, screens, etc. for showing slides. Prints from Konica slides and tips for their production.
There was also a suggestion that it would be nice to see other member`s work. There is an easy answer to this which very few of our members take advantage. This is of course the Club Folio. This has a note book for hints and tips plus messages to its members. You see lots of other members work and get helpful hints on how to improve your own. The Folio members use a variety of processing methods which they are willing to talk about about. There is no charge to join. You could even form an Irish Folio.
Now although I think there are some good ideas in the previous columns, they will not work unless members send in reports to the Editor. Remember Bill is the Editor and he relies on YOU to provide the copy. Don`t be shy, it does not matter if we have several reports on the same thing. We want your experiences to put together a magazine everyone wants to read.
Ron.
