ISSUE No. 75. | NEWS | OCTOBER 1994 |
CONTENTS | EDITORIAL RON KNOWLES (1912-94) It is with regret that we report the passing of Ron Knowles on in September 1994. Ron had been a member from the earliest CR50 Club days and for a spell was involved with the formation of the National Newsletter and writting numerous articles which developed into his long standing "Round -A- Bout" Column. In spite of suffering from Emphasima for a number of years Ron continued his CRC work both writing articles and processing with the Club`s E6 formula and exchanging views with other members. He also took over as Area 11 Co-ordinator, from Eric Weatherill, but poor health made him hand over to his long time friend, Roy Johnson. Ron`s career was 35 years as reporter & photographer for his home town local newspaper in Dudley in the West Midlands, but after early retirement, 15 years ago, moved to Cleethorpes in South Humberside. The Club sends its Best Wishes to Ron`s wife and family. AREA 22`s SAD LOSS Area 22 Co-ordinator, Peter Guy writes with the sad news of the death of MacDonald Spencer back in March. `Mac` made a great deal of copy contributions to both the Area and National Newsletters and since he stopped sending him copy Pete hasn`t had enough copy to make an Area newsletter worthwhile. Mac will be sadly missed. The Club has lost another very worthy member and our thanks and best wishes go to Mrs. Spencer and family. MORE SAD NEWS - FROM USA Eddie Pierce, our Ex Club Librarian wrote to tell us that Bert Barraclough died in Texas, late last year. It was Bert who first gave us news about the new Kodak E6 film and process which the late Arnold Moorhouse tweeked into his own working formula and later passed to the Club Committee and which lawrence Edwards and Ron Croad `fine-tuned` into the very successful C.R.C. E6 Formula. Bert also wrote many articles for the Newsletter and kept us up to date with what was going on with the "Great Yellow God" after the turmoil of the demise of 3M`s CR50 film and processing kits and, then the change from E4 to E6. We have lost another great stalwart from the past for which the Club is all the poorer for. |
