SECRETARY`S NOTES

Dear Member,

I hope you enjoyed the festive season, and now full of vigour for the new year. I was very saddened to receive the news of the passing away of Burt Sanders, Burt was one of the very first members of the CRC and he was also involved in drawing up the CRC Constitution. Burt was also a great help and support to me when I took over as Chairman from him a few years ago. If I may I would like to pass on to you part of a reply I received from Peggy, Burts wife, Dear Mr. Guy, Thank you for your kind letter, and I am trying to reply to letters as I feel able. Burt has been a man of many interests throughout his life - but photography always has been the chief one.

Following holidays with the caravan, many on the Continent - the first important thing would be to process between 30/40 rolls of film, and they would be hanging all around the house. We have some wonderful sequences set to lovely music, there is one named 'The Wonders of Nature' which I can see and hear in my head from beginning to end. We would have been married 50 years on the 15th of December. Please thank all the members of the CRC for their condolences, and my good wishes to you all, Yours sincerely, Peggy Sanders, Burt will be sadly missed.

I was also very sad to receive the news that Kevin Craske our Chairman has resigned. Kevin made his decision after receiving some insinuating letters from a member of Area 22 regarding the printing costs of the CRC national newsletter, these insinuations were unfounded and were made by a person who had no idea what he was talking about, my main concern is now though with these actions, the club could have some serious financial repercussions, as Kevin gives the club a very good discount on all our printing and in return we give him some free advertising within the newsletter, if he now decides not to renew the contract with us in April (which I do not think he will)  we would have to find another outside company, and I know the printing would cost us a great deal more. Isn't it sad when one person alone can spoil a good thing for the many! also we not only now require a new Chairman, we also need someone to run the chemical sales, as Kevin is also no longer prepared to do this job..

May I now plea though this newsletter for any members to come forward to cover these jobs, especially the chemical sales as all the members rely on this service, it needs someone who is prepared to give a few hours a week, maybe someone who is retired with time on their hands, but it must also be a person who is experienced  at weighing, if I can twist your arm please contact me as soon as possible. This is now your chance to put something back into Club, as without new people coming forward the Club could be in dire straits in 1998!

Now onto things photographic, I have recently received some details of photographic holidays for 1998 and I have been asked if I would bring them to your attention, the first one is 'The Picture House' photographic holidays on the Isle of Skye, which include guest-house accommodation, good food, minibus excursions as well as the photographic tuition, for full details contact The Picture House, Ard Dorch, Broadford, Isle of Skye, IV49 9AJ tel/fax 01471 822531. the other one is courses and holidaysat 'The Kingcombe Centre' Toller Porcorum Dorchester, Dorset DT2 OEQ Tel 01300 320684.

May I leave you and request that you give my comments a lot of thought, if I can help in any way please don't hesitate in contacting me.

Best regards.

Pete.
