SECRETARY`S NOTES

Dear Member,

With the AGM/Show looming up very fast I would like to clarify the date for this year's meeting, it is for Saturday  18th, April 98, at 'The Undercroft' Repton School, Repton, Derbyshire, doors will be open from 9.30am, and the meeting to start at 10.00am.

Since we first started to have the meetings at Repton, it was with the understanding that they would have to take place during the Easter holidays, we have always tried to have this spring meeting as late as possible, hence the date for Saturday 18th,  Sunday is not practicable for Repton as the school has to be made ready for the Monday morning.

We have no Chairman for this years meeting as Kevin has not only resigned as Chairman, but has also resigned
completely from the club, we have not only lost a very good Committee member, we have also lost a loyal club
member, it is also not to clear at this stage as to whether Sandra Craske, Kevin's wife will stay as club Treasurer,
so I will have

two hats on for this meeting, as I will also be taking the Chair, but all being well I will start the meeting promptly
at 10am, and if possible finishing at 12 noon for lunch.  With  all these circumstances, I am sure I do not have to
point out to you how important this meeting is, and how much we need your support, not only with the dispute with.

Area 22 but also the need for more members to come forward as committee members. The agenda for the meeting is published elsewhere in this newsletter. With club business over, it is important that we embark on the really good part of the day starting at 1.00pm with our guest speaker Roger Parry, also with this meeting we have opened the latter part of the day to other photographic club members, who are also affiliated to the PAGB federation, and I hope that we no only get a good attendance from our own members but also from outside, who may then wish to join the club.  May I again appeal to your good nature, and request AV's, a 10 for10 slide show, or just to show a selection of your favourite slides to be included into the days program, with this in mind please contact me as soon as possible, to date I have SILCH, also please bring along any prints which you wish to display, B/W or colour it does not matter, also please bring along some of your favourite slides, for 'The Slide of the Year' trophy, this was won last year by a new member to the club, also please can I have volunteers to help with these arrangements, we had a great show last year, so lets try to make it even better, with a bumper show for this year.

Unfortunately the dispute is on going with area 22, and I'm not going to take up any more space with this matter, as I have also been accused of late of giving it too much NEC Committee coverage and not enough Area coverage, but I will say that the Area 22 Co-ordinator has resigned and approximately twelve members so far, but I do know that, at least five of these members would have resigned anyway due to other reasons of age, ill health and general lack of interest in photography now, we now also urgently need a member from the south of England, to come forward and take on the area co-ordinators post, for the time being and until a new co-ordinator is in place, I will take on the renewing.

Area 22 members together with my own area 20 members, and may I please request that you bare with me until the position is resolved One last very important point, and that is for the chemical sales, Rita and John Pearle, 1, Eldon Close, Colchester, Essex, CO21 3HA. Tel: 01206-861604, have kindly offered to take up this post, and until the transfer takes place, please also bare with us, and we will keep you fully informed as and when the transfer has taken place, and Thank you very much Rita & John.

All for now, see you at Repton,

Best regards,

Pete.
