EDITORIAL

The highlight of this quarter is the Photo Action 98 at the Birmingham International Exhibition Centre over on Friday
16th, Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th of October. The Club has a `Stall` and Pete Guy has organised some publicity
to be on hand. Two officials will be in attendance each day and look forward to meeting some of you there. This
exhibi
tion is an excellent opportunity for us to show our continued interest in film and home processing, by
turning up in good numbers. You will meet CRC officials at stand No. A8.

I enjoyed the Committee Meeting at Evesham on Saturday 5th of September. Along with organising for the Photo
Action 98 Pete has also done a nice job in getting Area 22`s Accounts sorted out albeit without receipts to confirm
some of the expenses they aren`t perfect but I think Area 22 members will be very satisfied with the outcome and we
owe Pete
a lot of thanks for his hard work.

The Club handbook was also discussed and it is hoped to have a complete re-print after next years AGM. There is
considerable updates to be made as  some of the dealers mention no longer exist and there has been some changes
among Clubs officials. We still need to hear from any members willing to take on as Co-ordinators for Area 9 and
Area 22.

You will find enclosed a four page colour supplement. The slides were taken at the AGM in April and scanned into
a computer by Area 3 Co-ordinator Roy Salmons, using a slide scanner and the pages composed in his Desktop
Publishing programme and printed out on a colour inkjet printer. I think you will agree Roy has done a fine job.
This is how Roy produces his local newsletters and I too am working towards having a new computer and some of
the necessary equipment to produce similar results for future newsletters. Roy`s members received this pictorial
with their last CRCN.

We also discussed the possibility of going into colour for the CRCN, but it was considered too expensive for full
use. However it is hoped we shall be able to do the occasional `insert` or centre spread. I would appreciate
knowing your views on our use of colour. As a Colour Reversal Club, I have long considered that we should be
able to show members slides in full colour in our pages.

This issue represents my 66th newsletter for the club, which I suppose is quite a feat! We have gone from wax-stenciled pages to dot-matrix printing and graphics and at present use quite a high quality Desktop Publishing programme with a laser printer. It would be considered a great leap if we could now get into quality colour printing, even if it is only an occasional inclusion to begin with.

However, the problem of finding copy continues to cause concern. In this issue I have had to resort to a fair bit of my own material, and using snippets from local newsletters. I really do need you to send in something from yourselves. Remember, what you do in your hobby may seem every-day events, but to others it could be quite different from their interests and just a short piece of copy explaining your activities could be JUST what another member is looking for. Please remember my difficulties in finding fresh copy and consider sending something for
next time.

I hope that you still find that your newsletter continues to give good service, quality and interest and with your help the Club will go from strength to strength.
