SECRETARY' S NOTES
Dear Member,
I hope you enjoyed the festive season, and may I take this opportunity in wishing you and all your loved one's "A Very Happy New Year with Excellent Photography in 1999".
The 'Photo Action 98' show at Birmingham was very good indeed, and being there for three days on the CRC stand gave me the opportunity to view all the main manufactures stands in great detail, and of course, digital imaging seemed to be making all the running for the show. Club corner of the show proved very successful for the organisers, as I have received two letters of thanks for our attendance, but I am sorry to say that from the telephone conversations with Bill Reid, we have not had many enquiries for membership, this could have been due to our very bland stand, when I looked at the other club stands, within the area, their prints shows were very good, and some even had small old camera collections, which made a talking point straight away, all we had to offer was a little hand-out leaflet and some chat! but we have been asked to attend again next year, and may-be we can do better. I would also like to thank, Brian Savage, Arthur Comer, and Bill Read for all their help and attending on the various days.
I am very pleased to say that we have a new area co-ordinator for Area 22, and he is Mr. Alan Edwards, 10, Beech Park, Holsworthy, Devon, EX22 7NB. Tel: 01409-261-300. it is hoped that Alan will take over as from January 99, (Area 22 members please note) I would like to thank Alan on behalf of the Club for taking on this position, but sadly we have no such luck with Area 9, and if someone does not come forward soon from this area we will be in dire straights, as Tony said in a letter to me "After some long experience of work in voluntary organisations I am convinced that no one is ever replaced until he/she resigns" So come on you Area 9 members, please don't let this have to happen to Tony and give the club your support as soon as possible! also, I do not think our Treasurer will continue in office as from the AGM in April 99, you will probably think that I am rambling on again, but I am very concerned as to the future of the club, as we now have only a very few members who are active within the club, may I again appeal to you to come forward and give some service to the club, if we carry on at the rate we are going I can foresee that there will not be a CRC in the year 2000!
Enclosed with this newsletter you should find some major amendments to the Constitution, these have steamed from the change to the financial year, or affiliation to the PAGB and the Area 22 dispute, the NEC are now putting these changes to you as for ratification at the AGM in April, in the mean-time I would welcome your views and opinions as soon as possible.
Ending on a sad note, again with Area 9, I have to report that member Dr. R.H. Roberts, Morda, Oswestry, passed away on the 12th, October 1998 condolences have been sent to his family.
Regards.Pete Guy.
