SECRETARY' S NOTES
JOHN PEARLE, 1 ELDON CLOSE COLCHESTER ESSEX CO4 3HA 01206 861604 thepearles@compuserve.com
THANKS TO PETE GUY
The World, and along with it the CRC, survives. Following the AGM at Repton, Pete Guy stood down as Chairman and Secretary. Nick Williams has taken over as Chairman and I as Secretary of the CRC. All the other Committee members have agreed to remain in office. We all thank Pete for the hard work he has done for the Club (that means for CRC members - you and I) and are very glad that he has agreed to remain a Committee member.
THE CRC - THE FUTURE
Several ideas were put forward at Repton for the future direction of the CRC. Broadly these fell into two areas. First, should we expand the range of interests catered for. The CRC, despite its origins, has never been parochial - as a look in any issue of the CRC News will show, but with the increasing use of digital techniques perhaps these and other, more traditional, photographic processes should be formally incorporated into the aims of the Club. This leads to the second area of discussion. A new name for the CRC. That we should have a new name seems to be a widely held view, what it should be will be much more difficult to decide. I won't expand on these now but I have written at more length to Area Co-Ordinators asking them to pass on your views on how the Club should move forward. Please take the time to let us know what you think
SUBSCRIPTION RATES
No, they're not going up, but I along with several other members realised that we didn't know what the right amount was. Pete Guy's notes in the Autumn 1998 CRC News (No. 91) give the right amounts. (That'll teach me to read the News more carefully in future!). So, for the record and courtesy of Bill Reid, who had to tell me, and I quote ..." The Annual Subscription is only £8.00 (£9.00, family) Overseas £9.50." - Excellent value for money, especially when you consider the savings to be made on film from Ron Croad or Roy Salmons. Oh yes, and on chemicals , too.
ARE YOU THERE, WEIGHERS & MIXERS?
In the last issue of the News I asked those of the W&M persuasion to tell me what they wanted to find in the CRC chemicals cupboard. Nobody has........yet.
PHOTO ACTION - BIRMINGHAM
It would be good if the Club could show some of its members' work here. This would illustrate the range of our interests and skills. Ideally under any new name agreed upon. Please, if you have any ideas or examples of your work that you would be prepared to exhibit, contact your Area Co-ordinator or any Committee member.
That's it, the weather is improving, the light is great and the countryside is in full bloom. More picture opportunities than you could wish for.
