SECRETARY'S NOTES

I have commented before in these notes on my increasing workload my professional work that is, not what I do for the C.R.C. Although this is my problem at the risk of boring you all, it does affect the Club because it means I cannot really devote as much time and energy to Club matters as I would like. When I agreed to help Bill Reid.

I as Editor when the previous Sec/chairman resigned I was not as busy as I am now and that was some years ago. I think I will need to look for someone to take over in the not too distant future. Volunteers contact me.

Having less and less time to devote to photography and home processing, I recently bought a Photoworld kit to process a back log of films that had accumulated over the last eighteen months or so. Normally I am a dedicated weigher and mixer, but just hadn’t the time to mess about. I managed to process all my films with no problems. I think would need to adjust the time, in the first developer to suit my taste for the density of the slide I like.

Using the recommended times, I fancied my slides showed a very slight degree of overexposure, probably 20 seconds or so less development would produce the ideal. It is always as well to project your slides before making a final judgment - something I didn’t do on this occasion.

Some members will be aware that we take out membership of the Institute of Amature Cinematographers and obtain a license to record music for use in slide programmes.

There has always been some confusion as to what one could or could not do legally. Having seen the various regulations I can understand the confusion, it is a veritable maze. Cohn Powell, our Treasurer has been looking at the problem and reports on page 12 of this on page 12 of this issue.

Subscription time is upon us again. As reported in the last Newsletter, the rate remains at £3.50 - incredible value. Area One members should send their renewals to me. We still need a Leader for Area One - Membership up there please note.

Some members of all Areas have renewed already, there’s enthusiasm for you - many thanks. We hope to allow Area Leaders to keep more of the subscription, decision on this coming shortly.

There will again be a National Meeting and this year we revert back to Didcot where Bill Reid will be ready to greet us on May 26th Make a note in your diaries and make an effort to come along. Bill already has some good things lined up.

After a fairly severe winter, Spring is slowly beginning to brighten things up, so get the lens brush to those lenses and get out and about. More than that, let Bill know how you are getting on either by writing a short article or just a few note5 no matter how short, The Newsletter needs your contributions.

Best Wishes and good shooting.

Brian Savage.
