SECRETARY'S NOTES

MAY I, on behalf of the Committee, wish all members of the Colour Reversal Club, a very happy, prosperous and peaceful New Year. Let us hope that the weather smiles on all of us every time we venture forth with a loaded camera, and our subjects always look exactly as we want them. And for our Editor’s sake, may you all be so pleased with your photography that you inundate him with brilliant examples for use in this journal.

The news concerning the discontinuation of bulk supplies of Konicachrome is a bit of a shock. Hopefully the firms on the Channel Islands are still able to supply Turachrome at the same reasonable price that Konica was sold at. The only disadvantage here is that you have to have 36 exposure cassettes and not a bulk length. Nevertheless Turachrome is a very good substitute. Failing that, it is good to be able to report that certain companies on the mainland are able to furnish our members with Kodak Elitechrome Extra Colour at around £2.50 per 36 exposure cassette, not including processing of course.

The new edition of the Club Handbook has been well received. If you haven’t received yours yet, but have paid your subs., give me a shout and I’ll find out why. The pages in the Handbook have been laminated. This was done (although it increased the cost a little) for two main reasons — longevity and protection when used in the darkroom. I think it is proving worth the effort. Many thanks to those enthusiastic souls who contributed to the contents, making it a tome worth treasuring.

David Lewis tells me that the East Antrim Exhibition, for which we had several photographs selected, is now coming to an end. There have been many complimentary comments written in the ‘Guest Book’ that travelled round the various venues with the Exhibits. Congratulations to those members whose entries were selected. I do hope that there will be the same, or even better, response for the 2004 Exhibition. Please start thinking about your entries now, which have to be in your Secretary’s hands by the end of February. If your pictures were not selected for last year’s Exhibition please let it make you more determined than ever to get in this year! I will have entry forms to send out shortly, so get your name down a.s.a.p.

The AGM, which I reminded you about last time, is now three months closer! I’m really pleased to report that one of our members, Bill Broadhurst, has found a superb venue and has agreed to act on the Club’s behalf to book it and arrange location maps etc. for the meeting, which will be one Sunday in May (precise date to be confirmed). There will be the usual formalities after which we can let our hair down with Bring & Buy Stalls, Equipment displays and demos and Slide Shows. Obviously these wondrous activities will depend on YOU.

Best wishes,

Roy.
