VIDEO TRANSFER OF SLIDES and/or CINE By Eddie Pearce (Area 9). I project slides on to a very good sheet of white cardboard about 16" x 10", and, focus the video camera onto the card. I do not use the auto-focus and have the camera behind and above the projector, but also make sure not to have any light (extranient) that will also get to the screen, or you will lose the sharpness on the video. Try and cut out all the light that comes from the projector. Put the projector inside a big box and that way none of the light will spoil the image. I do this up in the loft, behind a large black sheeting. The projector should be pointing slightly upwards, and the video downwards. You will have to find out the best way for yourself, and watch the image on a potable T.V. Sight it so that you can view it and not interfere with the resulting image. ADDING A SOUNDTRACK I add the sound track through a sound mixer, and put it onto tape without it recording the actual picture, the picture will of course go on to the big video before I start putting the soundtrack on it. It sounds quite a task but if I mess-up the sound part of it, then I can go back and do it again. I end up with the original sound as picked up with the camera, the comments I will be adding, and a background track, and these will come through an audio mixer, which I will be able to monitor as I do it. |
