EDITORIAL

AGM 96, REPTON SCHOOL, DERBYSHIRE

The highlight of 1996 is something to look forward to. With a new venue in the Midlands it is hoped many of you who can`t manage to get to Didcot will be able to attend and enjoy our annual meeting. Repton lies appx 10 miles from either Derby and Burton-on-Trent and easy to reach by road. The nearest local station is at Willington just 1½ miles from Repton. See page 4 for fuller details for you to start making your plans
for a day or weekend visit.

While there will be some `set` programmes, the main interest of the day will be what `you` as members,
bring along. Facilities will be available for Print Exhibition, A/V and standard Slide projection, so now is the time to start putting something together to bring along to show how your photography and processing has gone, over the year. If you have any unwanted photographic equipment you no longer use, bring this along for the second-hand stand, where you may find something else of interest.

Everything will be done to make this an enjoyable day. Please make an effort to to come along and meet
many new faces.

AREA 26`s LOSS

Co-ordinator, David Lewis reports the sad passing of Frank Redhead, the assistant Co-ordinator of our
Irish group. Frank and his wife Mary, settled in Belfast, as a teacher, making many friends, Enthusiastic
both in work and in photography he was always keen to talk about any aspect of the art. We send our
condolances and best wishes to Mary and family.

THIS ISSUE

This quarter your Newsletter discusses the impact of the use of computers in combination with
photography. As with previous changes will the digital image eventually take it`s place in our hobby! We
also see how to transfer your slides & cine film to the video format. Have we finally solved that tobacco
effect? Also questioned! Has member`s constructive and cost saving aims been lost? Will you prove
them wrong! Then we take a backwards look at working with Cibachrome papers & processing.
Whatever, your views are always open to discussion through these pages...
