What began as an opportunity to
provide people the thrill of performing
on a live theatre pipe organ in a true
theater has become the Third Annual Poorman’s Organ Convention at the Granada Theatre in Bakersfield, CA.

What do you do with collected parts of neglected pipe organs?

When Jim Spohn faced this situation he simply created a location in the movie house he had served in his school days as projectionist.

Jim and his wife Lucy purchased it and began assembling an honest-to-goodness theatre organ of his own.

Enjoying the sounds of a generation past that accompanied flickering films
was a labor of love as Jim began to assemble more ranks of pipes, and eventually a complete WurliTzer 210 organ was added to augment his sounds in a never-ending project.

However, as he read of the plight
of others posting questions on the
Internet who haven't had a chance to enjoy such an experience, performing on a real live organ in a theater, he wondered if he could provide oppor-tunity to invite the world to his door.
