A Closer Look At The 3/12 Grande Page Theatre Pipe Organ
The console of the 3/12 Grande Page Theatre Pipe Organ.
The Page organ Company did things slightly differnet from the other Theatre Pipe Organ builders of the time. The first and most obvious deviation you notice is the color of the Stop Tongues in the bolsters. Tuned percussions were mottled yellow. In the WurliTzers and most other brands, these yellow tongues controlled the Celestes. In the Page organs, Celeste stops have white tongues. Also note that the Stop Tongues controlling the Special Effects, Second Touch voices and Tremulants on the back rail are mostly colored brown.

Here, we see Dennis working on one of the small pipes in the Post Horn. He is using an old organ technician's trick, employing a dollar bill to gently clean the reed shallott of the tiny pipe. The Post Horn on this organ is a very clear trumpet-like stop that really makes a statement when drawn.
