Johnnie June Carter's Story

We spoke at length with Johnnie June Carter, owner of the 3/12 Grande Page Theatre Pipe Organ installed at her Pipe Organ Paradise, and this is what she had to tell us about herself and her incredible installation:
Tampa Theatre's 3/14 Mighty WurliTzer Theatre Pipe Organ.
A native of Florida, I grew up loving the Tampa Theatre 3/14 Mighty WurliTzer Pipe Organ.
I began playing at the age of 10 in church. As an adult, I taught for Arthur Smith Music Company at their request. I played my Hammond B3 for special occasions, such as the Miss Florida Beauty Contest, until the day my dear Dad, the cherished and legendary Doctor John H. Harris died.

After my dear father's death, I didn't play a note of music for the next twenty-seven years.
Then, one day I unexpectantly passed the Tampa Theatre and was invited inside to take a tour of the Theatre, where the organ was being demonstrated. After the tour was over, I was asked by the demonstrator to play the organ. A bit hesitant at first, I took the bench and began to play.

As I played the Mighty WurliTzer, the love of music began to flood back into my heart. I knew then and there I had to get back into the Theatre Pipe Organ community and make a real difference.
To that end, I joined the Central Florida Theatre Organ Society and shortly after, was elected to the office of Vice President of this, a proud chapter of the American Theatre Organ Society.

Since aquiring the fabulous 3/12 Grande Page from the Good Doctor and installing it in my home at Pipe Organ Paradise, I have never been more content and happy, finally getting to live out my childhood dream of owning, caring for and playing a Mighty Theatre Pipe Organ!
