THE STOPTAB

THE OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER OF THE

CENTRAL OHIO THEATRE ORGAN SOCIETY

February 2001                          John Burns, Editor (burnsjr@prodigy.net)

Chapter Meeting – Sunday, February 18

Our Meeting for February will again be at Thomas Worthington High School. We will first have a brief business meeting. After this will be a guest artist to be announced, followed by open console. We will again be planning to have refreshments backstage near the outer, doors, so bring any food or beverages that you prefer.

Last month's meeting began with the announcement of Martha Sprout as a new board member filling the expired term of Herman Thompson. The board reelected last year's officers to their same positions:

President - John Adams

Vice President - John Burns

Secretary - Emma Soiu

Treasurer - Mark Williams.

Discussions focussed primarily on fund raising for a total rebuild of the chapter's Wurlitzer. The fund raising brochure was shown to those present. It was noted that it would be desirable to show a strong financial commitment on the part of the membership to any potential corporate donors. Members of the board have recognized their role in taking the lead in contributions, with pledges so far of $5,000.

Patti Immell presented a great program for us, including "I Could Have Danced All Night," "Sound of Music," "March of the Toy Soldiers," "Sleigh Ride," selections from Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers movies, "Irish Washerwoman," "Sailor's Hornpipe," "Popeye, the Sailor Man," "Beer Barrel Polka," "Can-Can," "Auld Lang Syne," and others. Open console followed with several members and one guest participating.

Open Console followed with Stan Krider playing a Beatles Medley and "Three O'clock in the Morning." Margo Burkhart played "Carolina in the Morning," and "St. Louis Blues." Scott Crawford presented selections from "The Muppet Show," "Beer Barrel Polka", and "Alley Cat." John Adams played "The Rest of Your Life," "Too Fat Polka," "Twilight Time," "American Patrol," and "Ten Minutes Ago." Emily Smith "In The Garden," "Abide With Me" and others.

Directions: From SR 315 take the route 161 exit and go east. Turn left at the first stoplight after you cross the bridge over the river, and go back between the school and the athletic fields. When the road ends turn right, and keep winding around until you reach the parking lot behind the auditorium. The auditorium back door will be open.
