Peterculter to Ferryhill Junction was part of the Ex GNSR Suburban Railway and the first 16 miles of the Aberdeen To Ballater Branch line.
There were ten local stations starting from Banchory, Culter, Milltimber, Beildside, West Cults, Cults, Pitfodles, Ruthrieston and Aberdeen
via Ferryhill Junction.
This walk starts from the west side of Peterculter and is on the official Railway Trail. Banchory can be walked but only in part with much
deviation along the main road. There are oplans for the trail to be extended to include Banchory. Peterculter was reduced to "Culter" by
the GNSR for their station there.
Being an official railway trail the track bed is in good condition for walking, cycling and Horse riding. The station areas are reasonably clear
and any station buildings still remaining are used as private dwellings. There is also a very nice cafe at Cults station that is very welcome. The
trail starts/end at Ferryhill and leads in to the Duthie Park with it's children's playground, boating ponds and Winter Gardens.
