TIVOLI DOORS OPEN DAY
September 18th 2007

After last years' record number of visitors it wasn't surprising that we wondered if it was possible to meet the same number and we were not disappointed. By the end of the day 3,200 vistors had
visted the building. One of the things that struck me this time was how many actually sat down and remained for much of the day, enjoying the numerous great acts that entertained them. The
building quickly filled up from opening at 10am and ques built up for the guided tours of the building as well as as for joining the Steering Group. Membership includes four quarterly Newsletters
plus attending a special party at the Tivoli once a year. The Steering Group gained 240 new members.

As well as having gained the £45,500 grant from the Lottery Fund more good news came from a grant from Aberdeen Council that will go towards refurbishing the outside of the Tivoli building.
If all goes well, next year should be the final Doors Open Day and the serious job of getting the Tivoli ready for it's eventual reopening approximately two years later will begin. The wheels are now
in motion and it's not a matter of if but when. It is good to know that the Tivoli has now been saved and will become alive with music, song and laughter and benefit the future generation. With the
completion of the new shopping Mall and multi Cinemas at Guild Street Goods and the refurbishment of the Station Front and new bus station the future for this area looks good. Perhaps we will
see a refubishment around the bottom of  Bridge Street and into Gulild street that will make this erea attractive once again.

Once again the day was compared by the Tivoli Steering Group leader, Edi Swan, who got things off to a great start as he welcomed everyone as they entered the building and
introduced all the performers on what was to be a great 6 hours of continuous entertainment. There was a real party spirit sparked off by the Lottery Award and Council Grant,
which showed itself in the enthusiasm of the day.
