.Apo1gies .for absence was received  from B Savage, and Peter Calvert.

The minutes of the 1986 AGM were read and approved. There were n matters arising.

The chairman in his report made reference to the shaky state of the Club in the past and emphasized that the committee had worked hard in the meetings at Worcester to stimulate interest in our affairs. He appealed to members to pay their subscriptions to their Area Leaders quickly as many of them received up to six months after the year end.

The Chairman mentioned that the Club was unique in consisting of a friendly body of weighers and  mixers and kitchen sink processors. A Gentleman’s Club for gentlemen.

The importance of the newsletter was stressed as our main means of communication with the membership. Efforts to improve its quality were constantly being made. The Secretary gave a summery of the year’s activities, and noted that in 1986/87 a number of new members had joined the club. Thanks were due to the members of the photographic trade who hyad sent out leaflets for us.

The secretary appealed to Area Leaders to keep him informed of the activities which take place within an area. Most of the Leaders were good in this respect , but some had never been in touch at all., and it was difficult to know what was happening in those areas.

Important concessions were given to us by C.P. Instruments (15% off) pH meters), Northlite Bulbs (10% off blue daylight viewing bulbs) and film at trade prices from Konica. Leaflets on all these products were available at the meeting. Thanks were expressed to the Committee and to Area leaders for their work done for the Club.

The Treasurer stated that Sue Croad ACA had been appointed Auditor, and had at the last committee meeting inspected the books and prepared a draught balance sheet.

The 1987 Balance sheet was presented to the meeting. A proposal that the account be approved was moved by G Sparkes, and seconded by Eric Weatherill. No nominations for the vacant committee positions were received, and on affiration that they were willing to sit again, the committee were reelected on-bloc.  The re-election was proposed by George Sparkes and seconded by Dr,. Neil. It was unanimously carried.

The honor of Life Memberhip was conferred on Oliver Barron, leader of Area 20 since it’s inception in 1971. It was stated that Oliver had given outstanding service to the club as Leader, Hon. Secretary and Chemical supplier.

An amendment to the club constitution was proposed Bill Brown seconded by Pete Guy that “No person should sit on any committee, or take part in any Club policy making, or  put forward or second any resolution unless he or she has paid their current subscription to the club. The amendment was carried unanimously.

In Attendance:- B. Sanders, C. Powell, B. Lewis, T. Chuter, G. Sparkes, W. Reid, B. Savage, R Croad.

Concern was expressed at the lack of communications between the Leaders in some areas and the General Secretary, the committee feel that all letters. should be sent to the secretary who would then pass on relevant information to the appropriate officers.

T Chuter suggested that the Club should research a. definitive formulae for all types of colour reversal film. The club to find the money to cover the research.

B  Savage stated that such a formulae existed in the club library, and had been published in the newsletter. Tony also proposed that the club should hold a convention at some central point. Warwick University was mentioned as a possible site. The Committee were in general agreement, but doubts were expressed. in the costs involved.

There was considerable discussion a suitable badge for club members, several samples were shown, but general feeling was that traditional badges are not worn by many people nowadays. A suggestion by the Chairman that a small pin type, with three small primary coloured discs was thought to be acceptable.

The Membership Secretary reported that there had been 42 enquiries, as a result of advertising material sent out by the Photographic trade

For his outstanding services to the club since its inception Oliver Barron of area 20 wads to be granted Life Membership, at the A G M at Didcot.

There was an extended discussion on how best the present system of collecting subscription~ could be improved It Was suggested that they be sent direct~ to the Treasurer, but after a lot of thought it was decided to leave it to the Area Leaders as they have a closer knowledge of their membership
