THERMOMETERS Pete Guy. (Area 20).
Gordon Barrows confirms what good units the Maplin thermometers are as he has been using one for a good few years now. Gordon also recommends the up-down timer clock with memory, their catalogue number FS11M at £7.95.
For those of you who have the Maplin LCD thermometer, you may or may not know, that they sample the temperature every one or ten seconds. This can be checked by holding the unit near to a radio, when the one or ten second pulse can be hard. For those of you handy with a soldering iron, Gordon has provided the following circuit, if you would like to make your own thermometer. All the components come from Maplins.
(Diagram in Newsletter)PROCESSING NOTES George Sparkes (Area 22).
If making up a Litre of solutions it is a good idea to store each of the two developers in three 300 ml of solution filled to the top. To process one film just use one bottle, or two bottles for two films processed together. The life of an unused bottle is considerably extended. If you haven`t got six bottles they are obtainable from Boots at 27p each.
PROCESSING VIDEO PETER GUY (Area 20).
For any member who may be newcomers to processing, or indeed any member who would like to have a try at printing, I have a VHS video on processing/printing which I would like to donate to the Club. The video lasts for about 2 hours and was made by a team of quite a big camera club in my area. Once you get over the strange voice of the chap who does the commenting it is quite informative. It is divided into two parts, one for black and white and the other for colour. Both cover loading, processing and printing. It also goes onto toning and print mounting. If any member would like to borrow it please contact me at:- 13. Littlemoor Road, Ilford, Essex, IG1 1XZ. Tel. 081-478-5796.
