EDITORIAL

I hope that you all had a very pleasant time over the Festive Season and that you will now be looking forward to the new photographic season with fresh ideas and plans. There is no doubt that Digital Imaging is pushing fast ahead but the humble ‘film’ is still well ahead as far as quality and presentation is concerned. As you will read inside, I now have a nice new computer projector that is brilliant for watching DVD and VCR films but somehow, I find scanned slides don’t quite match up to a real slide show. Possibly this will change too but for the moment you can’t beat a great slide show.

Finding new copy and enough to fill the pages is really starting to become more difficult with each quarter and this also looses my deadline for getting the CRC News out on time. However I hope that you still find it worth waiting for and that you will also consider putting something together to help next time.

Our Secretary, Roy Salmons, is arranging an AGM and Open Meeting, to take place in Llandudno, in the Spring. Let’s rally around him and plan some slides and prints to bring along and any equipment you maybe wish to display or sell. Give a little talk, maybe! Roy will let us know the date and venue as soon as he has finalised everything.

Inside we have a couple of articles on learning about Digital Imaging and the equipment involved. I have also given details of the Digital camera and my first impressions on using it. This ties in with the article on the new Royale computer projector and digital Audio & visual presentation model (page 10). On the centre pages we have samples of the latest CRC Slide Postal Folio, which make for another interesting mixture of slides. On pages 12 & 13 there is a similar mixture of scanned slides from my summer holiday in Chicago. This gives reason for you doing likewise and sending us a nice presentation of your holidays, past or present.

On page 15, is a well thought out article by Mike Puttick, on using the Photospeed Kit.

Here’s to a very successful new season and lots of fine weather and great pictures.
