EDITORIAL

The 1992 AGM and Open Meeting has been booked for Sunday 17th May at the B.R. Staff Club in Didcot. Starting with the AGM around 1pm and concluding at appx. 6.30pm. Full details will be given in the April N.L. Plans are already up and running to get as many interesting programmes as possible to make it an enjoyable event. As time has a habit of creeping up on us I would ask you all to fill in the form sent with the December Internews and send it to me and if at all possible, try to attend.

My tanks to Mr. P. J. Marchment of Area 22 for starting things off on stories of his early days as a member. There has been many changes since 1972 and you must have an interesting story to pass on. Pleae keep them coming.

Our Secretary has come up with an interesting idea on the possible cause of the tobacco` effect! This is that the margin of error is small when W&M a Litre size brew, but when W&M smaller amounts such as 250/300ml, the error is more dramatic and could cause one or both of the developers to go off quckly and/or weaken with each use, which could answer why the first `test` film is fine with the problem occuring there after. Ron has carried out a number of tests and the results are excellent. This doesn`t mean there is anything wrong with our formulae as long as you make up a litre size and split it into two/three smaller sizes. A formula has been produced from these findings to take account of smaller amounts from scratch and will be published once Ron is satisfied with it. Lack of time has stopped me doing photography and a test run but as soon as I have done this I will let you know my findings.

Ron Knowles has producing his "Round-A-Bout" column for some years now, as well as occasional articles for the N/L. Recently he also took on as Co-ordinator for Area 11. While he works hard on these and is giving an excellent service, Ron says he is finding it difficult to find material for his column and health problems adds to this. I am sure he would welcome anything that members could send him to make the work easier. If you can help write or phone your editor and I will pass it on to Ron.

As usual this issue arrives after the festive season is over. I hope that it has been a very healthy and peaceful New Year and look forward to sharing this anniversary year with you.
