SECRETARY'S NOTES

A Happy New Year to all our members. So far our winter has been fairly wt, but some days have been sparkling. Some of our best days for landscapes photography are in winter. Visibility is often exceptionally good and the trees have no leaves so do not hide much of the view. I have read several `Coffee Table` style books on the countryside recently in which 75% of the colour photographs were Winter ones.

Pete Guy, Area 20 Co-ordinator, recently published some information on insurance in his Newsletter. It is worth checking your policies to find out just what is covered on them. The Prudential ALL RISKS policy recently had a clause added which stated that holders would no longer be covered for thefts from locked cars parked in public places.

As a lot of you know we had our car lock smashed and all our photographic kit stolen in France when on holiday. As most of our holidays are spent in our trailer tent, the car boot seems our safest place! The only other option is lugging all your kit around with you.

There must have been lots of protests as they have now done a `U` turn and will cover itms in a locked car for £1000. Now that may seem a lot but start to add up the cost of your cameras and lenses and you will find it does not cover all that much of your gear. Remember also that any other items lost in the car have to come under that £1000.

Those elder statesmen among us will know that the CR50 Club was formed by Fred Harvey in late October 1971. This means that this year the Club will be 21 years old. To celebrate this anniversary we hope to make our get-together and A.G.M. at Didcot this year something special.

If you can help in any way to make the day a success please fill in the form attached with the Newsletter, and return to Bill Reid. We need offers of Slide shows, Print displays, Short instructional talks, Surplus equipment stalls, Trade tables etc. If we know what to expect on the day then it is easier for Bill to get it organised.

The subscription for 1992/93 has been held to £5.00 single and £6.00 family. Members who joined after October 1991, only pay £2.50/£3.00. Please send your subs to your Area Co-ordinator before 1st. April 1992. The other half of the form relating to the AGM is for this purpose.

Heard two reasons why the E6 process still uses a separate Bleach and Fix. A Bleach./Fix prevents the bleach component from reaching its peak bleaching potential and results in a greenish look to the slide. The other reason is that the Commercial Labs. can more easily reclaim the silver from the bleach bath. Ron.
