NATURAL LIGHT

BACKLIGHT
The camera faces the sun, and the subject is in silhouette. Avoid letting direct sunlight in the lens or you will get flare. Keep the sun hidden behind the subject or out of the picture area altogether.

SEMI BACKLIGHT
Contour lines show bright illumination and the subject is in partial silhouette. You can get beautiful shots from the interplay of light.

EVENING LIGHT
Early evening scenes, while there is still some light still in the sky are taken in just the same way as ordinary daylight shots. A sturdy tripod is a wise accessory at the ends of the day.

SUN LIGHT!
A good tip when taking pictures with the sun playing an important part in your picture is to use an orange or red filter to emphasise the sun’s redness. Bracket exposures as you may need to open up a bit more than might be expected.
