SECRETARY'S NOTES
It gladdens my heart to see the work of fellow members. Bill Reid, our News Editor, is obviously the same, as he is keen to publish our photographs within these pages. It doesn’t really matter how the pictures were originated when they are reproduced on paper, but the slide show really does take some beating for impressive results in the round. But then, a big enlargement, be it monochrome or colour can be pretty eye-catching, too — witness the beautiful prints that were entered by CRC members for the East Antrim Open Exhibition.
Those enlargements that were selected by the judges are currently doing the rounds in Ireland, which is a wonderful opportunity for the CRC to get publicity. Those prints that weren’t selected were all admired (rather enviously it has to be admitted) when they were put on show at our AGM. They were beautiful — and these were the ones not selected! Hopefully there will be even more entries for the next year’s Exhibition (David Lewis has already told me that we are invited to participate again). Those whose prints were not chosen this time will no doubt be determined to be successful next year and those who didn’t quite get round to sending their prints in will manage it. Another CRC triumph should result!
It all really boils down to actually getting out and taking the pictures. Getting the cameras clicking! As I have oft quoted the late Dame Thora Hird: “You don’t stop doing things because you grow old. You grow old because you stop doing things.”
So let us try to regain any lost enthusiasm for photography by going out and doing some. Then let us show the rest of the Club what we have done — either by taking part in the Folio Group (Glyn is always keen to accept more members, and it’s free), or by sending a ‘theme’ of pictures to our Editor.
Finally, don’t forget the new website is up and running, thanks to Bill Reid who has spent many a long week slaving over a hot monitor!
Roy.
