This page is page 3 of our collection of name plates from organs.
This collection hails from D.J. Krall
This photo is of an original brass Kilgen theatre organ console nameplate. Etched on the reverse side is the serial number of Kilgen Opus 3344 originally installed in the New Grand Theatre in Keokuk, Iowa, 1924. Ron Willfong submitted this to us, and states that "I own this as well as two other 2 manual Kilgen theatre organ consoles. This is the first and only brass Kilgen nameplate I have ever seen. The only other ones I have seen are a gold leaf stencil type decal, applied directly to the wood of the sloping portion of the console lid to the right hand side of the organist.
I have included a scan of a very early Kilgen expression pedal which is finely detailed in cast iron. Think it is a fine example of organ Manufacturer history."
Plates by Hesco
Cheryl Mogensen of www.hescoincorporated.com sent the above plates in. They offer reproductions.
Cheryl States:
These are replicas of original Builder's Plates for Wurlitzer,
Kilgen, Moller and Robert Morton Pipe Organs. These are all currently
available from Hesco, Inc. in Hagerstown, Maryland. We also supply many
other organ builders with their customized builder's plates.
Hesco has reproduced the Wurlitzer Builder's Plate using wood inlays and
polished brass letters. It differs from any of the Wurlitzer plates shown
in your collection.
The Kilgen Builder's Plate we supply is different than the one submitted by
Tim Trotter.
The Robert Morton plate is the same as the one submitted by David Billmire.
The M.P. Moller signature builder's plate is one we supply quite often, and
differs from any shown in your collection.
You may include any, or all, of these pictures on your website if you so
choose.
Feel free to contact us with any questions.
Thanks!
