the past number of Newsletters it has been my sad duty to report the loss
of long standing Club members and with added sadness where regular
communications has made the loss that bit more personal. However nothing
can prepare you for the sudden loss of someone so close to you as your own
child. Our eldest daughter Sheila who was a dialysis patient put up a
brave fight over the years, having lost two transplant kidnies and
suffered numerous illnesses involved with this condition, but she managed
to find herself a husband and have a home to call her own and made great
effort to enjoy as normal a life as possible. Her great love was
everything to do with animals and insects and enjoyed drawing and sewing
tapestries. You may remember one her sketches used on the front cover of
CRCN No. 49 (April 88), which I have reproduced here. Sadly
she developed a cancer due to the drugs given to try and save the
transplant kidnies and passed away on the 9th. of January, one day after
her 30th. birthday. She will be greatly missed but remembered with much
fondness and thanks to our hobby we have many photographic memories of
her. My
wife and family would like to thank those of you who kindly sent cards and
words of condolence which were greatly appreciated. REPTON
