EDITORIAL As reported in the AGM (Repton) report,
we didn`t know where we stood as regards club finances as Sandra was
unable to deal with her office due to the affect of the Area 22 issue had
on Kevin. It also took longer than expected top get John Pearle up and
running with the supply of Club Chemicals (See pages 8 & 9). It is
nice to know that Sandra is now back in the saddle and looking after our financial
affairs. I`m afraid I cannot
organise an Autumn meeting at Didcot this year. Due to my new work
commitments I am unable to guarantee getting the time off. I also have a
weeks annual leave when I expect to be away around the usual week of the
meeting. My apologies to everyone but hope we can arrange a meeting for
next year. This has certainly been a very bleak and
wet summer with only short spells of fair weather for good photography.
Unless we get a late summer and an Indian Autumn I know my photographic
efforts will be much reduced this year. Photo Action 98 is takes place at the
Birmingham International & Exhibition Centre from the 16th to the 18th
of October. I shall be trying to attend, and Pete Guy says he hopes to get
a stand for the CRC but requires some assistance over the three days. If
you can help please get in touch with Pete as soon as possible. There will
be much organising to do. I hope to see some of you there. While we worry about the demise of the
Silver Film from the onslaught of the Digital image, Polaroid have just
introduced a new E6 Colour Reversal Film, just to prove that the Silver
Image is still live and well. Photoworld has a special introductory offer (see page 12). Please let us know if you try the new film
either with W&M or commercial kits. On pages 13 and 14 you will read
my report on using the latest Photocolor Chrome Six 3+ kit, which is
proving most excellent and can be made more economical by extending the
amount of films processed (successfully) per kit. Thankfully the loss of members after the
Area 22 resignations has been minimal and we have gained a few new
members. However if YOU haven`t yet renewed your subscription then this
will be the last Newsletter you will receive, UNLESS, of course, you get
your cheque in the post right away. We really don`t want to loose you and
trust that you will go on enjoying your membership. Finally, please don`t forget your "Editor" it really is difficult finding new copy. Any copy, no matter how short will be most welcome. I look forward to hearing from you. "YOUR NEWSLETTER NEEDS YOU" |
