This would be the easiest way to build your own console.

Nothing fancy here; If you want a fancy console, then that will be up to you and your woodworking skills.

Sketch-up of Style 260sp console

This represents the stop layout on my console.

Keydesk Supports

You will need to build two of these.

I used pine battens and MDF sides.

Keydesk Support Table

A good strong keyboard support desk is the next part to be made.

32mm thick and it is very heavy.

The Side Jamb

Left and Right are required. this is an inside view.

Stop Rail Support Platform

I constructed a platform to hold the dual stop rails. it is hinged to allow keyboard service.

Use the cut-out as a template for constructing the stop rails.

In this picture you can see the stop rail platform hinge; Heavy duty water pipe supported

by double pieces of timber at each end.

Stop Rail Construction

I used the cut-out from the Stop Rail Support Platform as the main part of the template

used in the construction of the laminated stop rails.

First laminate the bottom rail, then leave it in place and continue with next rail and so on.

This method is quite easy and it will save you the trouble of trying to work out the dimensions of the next rail up.

3mm plywood strips were used in constructing the rails.

Reverse the grain when applying the next plywood strip.

The Scroll Top

It can be the most difficult part to make; if you don't want a fancy scroll then the job might be much easier.

This a sketch of the stop rail end cover.
