AGM 97 & OPEN MEETING (Repton) REPORT

EDITORIAL

Due to a large amount of discussion during the AGM both the Secretary and Chairman have a lot of copy in this issue, it was decided to extend the the Newsletter by four pages to allow for the usual general-mix of copy.

It hasn`t been much of a summer, as regards weather, though hopefully you have all managed to snap some fine shots during the nice spells. My own photography has been very slow so far, but starting to pick up and I am looking forward to doing some processing before long. However, it is still very difficult getting back to normality after the loss of our daughter back in January.

The AGM and Meeting, at Repton was very enjoyable, as already mentioned there was a very extensive discussion at the AGM. David Smith, of Tetenal, gave a very interesting talk and  demonstration. There was an excellent print exhibition and a superb AV programme. The only disappointment is that more of you don`t manage to attend and support those who put so much into organising the day.

Likewise, copy from members has been the lowest in a long time and it has been very difficult finding enough material to fill these pages, without resorting to much copy from PAGB Newsletters. These are very interesting articles but I would prefer them used as "Fill-in" pieces. Please try and come up with more of your own "Home-Grown" articles, for the October and future issue.

Way back in 1982 we published an interesting article on 3-D and I thought it was worth re-publishing, using our computer programmes to enhanse the graphics, for newer members. 3-D is still a very interesting side of our hobby and well worth considering taking up. Home processing your slides is an excellent means of saving the cost of producing  two transparencies for each stereoscopic pair.

DIDCOT (CRC) OPEN MEETING 1997

The Didcot Railway Staff Club has been booked for Sunday 12th. of October (97). Doors open at 12.00 until appx. 18.00. There is no set programme. Hopefully you will have processed some great slides by the end of Summer, so please bring them along. As few or as many as you wish. Your latest prints also welcome.

Unlike the Repton meeting this will be a general get-together, with no AGM. Use all the available time to view member`s latest slides and prints and enjoy chatting together. Light refreshments will be available and the Staff Club Bar is open all day. I shall be there whatever, with a projector and some print stands. The rest is up to you. A Standard/Super 8mm projector is available. If you have any home processed cine films, bring them along too. See you there...
